Portrait of Will Rowston

Will Rowston

I'm a senior software engineer at The Home Depot. Most days that means Java and TypeScript services that source an order and get it to a customer. Those systems handle about 500 million transactions on a typical day, and more than a billion when it's busy.

I taught myself. I wanted to understand how things work, and I wanted to build. That was enough to learn to code and change careers about six years ago. I started at The Home Depot in 2020.

The logging platform I built there is how we watch that traffic. It took more than a million dollars a year off the cloud bill. I also worked on the streaming path behind live delivery times on homedepot.com.

On my own time I run Inference Partners, a small studio where I design and ship products myself. The recent ones are on the Projects page. I spend a lot of evenings in Cursor, and I share those workflows as a Cursor Ambassador.

When I'm away from the keyboard I ski in Utah, watch Georgia football, and hang out with my wife, our dog, and our daughter.
